We had our parking lot fundraiser for Downtown Days, which was a huge success. I just wanted to share a couple of stories and some pictures from the two days.
First, you will see pictured a young man with a Ukulele. He was sitting at the lot across the street from the church practicing his new obsession, when he say a care filled with girls drive by. They then yelled something at this young man, which he didn't hear. He was a little worried they were insulting him, but undeterred he continued playing. Then, a few moments later the car came back. They called to the young ukester and handed him some money saying something like "we don't need to park here. We just think it's cool you're playing a ukulele." I didn't realize how much people like the ukulele. I believe we can thank Jack Johnson for this.
We had a lot of fun throughout the couple of days and raised $3560.47 because one nice lady dumped out her change purse into our collection. This money will go to our mission trips to Omaha and Gatlinburg. Below are a few more pictures from the event.
